The Ocean Health story
Ocean Health Laboratories was founded in 1994 by Pharmacist, Christina Lim-Lam. It was built around the passion to help others achieve optimum self esteem.
Being a pharmacist by training and having worked 12 years in the pharmaceutical industry, Christina felt that prevention is better than cure. While living in California, USA, Christina developed an overweight problem. She fought this problem with MinusFAT, which helped to modify the lifestyle of eating fatty food.
Subsequently, she formulated MinusFAT Extra, which helped to modify the diet to be lower in fat and sugar calories. This has helped herself and many others to enjoy the great taste of food minus the calories from fat, carbohydrates and sugars, especially the diabetics who are often deprived of good tasting food.
In California, Christina also spent her time researching into natural health supplements to improve the quality of life for her family and herself. It was around this period of time that her mother suffered from diabetes, osteoarthritis and poor vision. All these caused frustration and build up of anger. Fortunately, her mother’s diabetic and osteoarthritis condition improved after taking the various supplements prescribed by Christina.
“It was painful to see my mother suffering from one pain to another. Pain killers were causing gastric pain to my mother, so it did not help much to reduce the pain of her knee and increase the pain in her stomach”
Seeing her mother’s quality of life improved with proper health supplements, Christina embarked on researching into more natural products to improve the quality of life especially in the areas of Energy, Mobility, Physical Appearance, Sight and Mental capacity.
“Only when the products are safe and effective for my family, will I consider offering it to my customers.”
During the frequent shuttles between USA and Singapore, Christina also noticed that there were many people suffering a low self image due to poor skin condition such as acne and pigmentation. Being a pharmacist, she felt that there is no need for people to go through the agony if they knew how to take proper care of their skin. She then worked with Dermatologists and Cosmetic Formulators to come up with Therapeutic Dermatologic Formula for Asian skin.
Today, all major hospitals in Singapore prescribe Therapeutic Dermatologic Formula products to reduce acne, oiliness, pigmentation and wrinkles. Products formulated by Christina under the brands Therapeutic Dermatologic Formula and Ocean Derma have helped thousands of people look better and feel better about themselves.
Ocean Healthcare (S) Pte Ltd now distributes Ocean Health, Therapeutic Dermatologic Formula and Ocean Derma products throughout Asia. Christina still spends her time pursuing her passion: formulating new products, delivering lectures and sharing with people ways to improve their health condition for a better quality life.
